Even as the State Cabinet has recommended either dismissal or forced retirement of the five arrested Principals of Higher Secondary Schools out of the six suspended from service for failing to participate in the Republic Day celebration organised by the State Government, police have also been entrusted to find out whether two other teachers were also involved in the same anti-National act.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a Cabinet Minister of the SPF Government informed that after the suspension of six Principals of the Higher Secondary School from their service for failing to participate in the Republic Day celebration or failing to let their students to participate in the celebration, another teacher (PET) identified Th Tomba has also been suspended from service today.
Out of the six suspended Principals, police have arrested five of them and the State Cabinet during a meeting today has recommended either dismissal or forced retirement of the five arrested Principals, the Cabinet Minister said, adding that the recommendation has been forwarded to the School Education Department for taking up necessary action.
Police have also been entrusted to institute an inquiry against the suspended Principal of Model Higher Secondary School W Biren and teacher (PET) Tomba, the Cabinet Minister further disclosed.
On the other hand, the five arrested Principals namely W Nongallei of TG Higher Secondary School, S Khomdonbi of Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Ch Padma of CC Higher Secondary School, Y Ibeton of Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School and L Rashi of Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School were produced before the Court of CJM Imphal today and further remanded to police custody for another three days.
The Cabinet Minister also informed that the Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has recommended promotion of International boxers MC Mary Kom and L Sarita to the post of DSP from Inspector after getting the due approval of the MPSC.
Along with renaming the proposed SPOs to be recruited by the Home Ministry in the four valley districts of the State as Village Defence Force, the meeting also decided that also approved appointment of the SPs concerned as the chairmen of the recruitment board.
Moreover, to enhance the status of the Power Department, it has been decided to rename it as Manipur State Electricity Corporation, the Cabinet Minister said, adding that appointment of former Chief Secretary AP Sharma as the Special Resident Commissioner of Manipur Bhavan at Delhi has also been approved during the Cabinet meeting today.
