Imphal, October 13:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has admitted to charges of being a party to a case of swindling fund meant for implementation of Mid-Day Meal Scheme levelled by an underground organisation against its Thoubal District unit.
The student body, however, pledged to pull up and punish the culprits, if any, only after a thorough investigation into the matter.
In a statement, secretary general of DESAM Hqs LC Santosh said truth about the misuse of the fund has been found out after a special committee investigated into the matter in the aftermath of the charges levelled by the underground organisation KYKL.
DESAM would soon conduct a thorough probe further into the matter to find out whether the money had been taken as part of the donation campaign of the student body from the public or in complete defiance of the laid down ideologies and principles of the student body.
According to the findings of the probe, the befitting actions would be taken up against the culprits, LC Santosh said.
While observing that since its inception DESAM has been able to contribute its mite for the welfare of the student community because of the support of the people, the statement maintained that DESAM firmly believe that it would not be able to do anything without the continued support and co-operation of the people.
