The decision of the United Naga Council (UNC) to ban all activities related to the ongoing Railline project from Jiribam to Imphal via Tupul, has been conveyed to Central Government leaders by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
Prior to heading to Kolkata today to attend a meeting of Finance Ministers, a high level meeting held this morning deliberated on the threat posed by the UNC after which the Chief Minister aired the State's concern over the threat to the rail-line project work to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister, said an informed source.

The meeting convened by the Chief Minister was also attended by the Chief Secretary, Chief Engineer of Railways, CRPF IGP, and top officials of Transport and Police departments.
The source further informed that the meeting decided to deploy additional security force at the project sites to ensure that the rail track laying work continues for completion within the specified deadline of March 2014 .
Moreover, the meeting resolved on setting up of a coordinating committee with Principal Secretary (Transport) Ram Muivah as the Chairman and entrusted the panel the overall charge of tackling the UNC threat.
