The first meeting of the Political Parties Forum Against Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 which was formed with the sole objective of working towards removal of the draconian Act from Manipur, was held at the MPP office today.
During the meeting it was decided that a political delegation from Manipur will be sent to Delhi very soon to meet the Central leaders and submit memorandum in this regard.
The meeting attended by representatives of political parties like MPP, CPI, CPI (M), BSP and RJD thoroughly discussed the issue and reiterated the commitment of their respective political parties to the public demand for scraping of the Act.
The meeting also resolved to send a joint delegation comprising of representatives of various National and regional political parties from Manipur to Delhi to meet Central leaders including Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and leaders of other National Political Parties for submitting memorandum urging for taking up necessary action toward fulfilling the demand for withdrawal of AFSPA from Manipur.
It is said the composition of the proposed delegation would be finalised during a joint meeting of all the presidents of the National and regional political parties scheduled to be held on December 11.
