Out of 29 students admitted by the teacher, discrepancies with regard to admission of six students came to the surface during the ongoing examination.
Again out of the six students, four of them could not appear in the examination inspite of receiving their admit cards.
But in the admit cards of the other two students namely Soibam Premkumar (Roll no.12852) and Laishram Donikumar (Roll no.12824) on whose basis they were made to appear in the examination, the accused teacher pasted the photographs of two other students ,namely Thongam Jhodhajit and Kharibam Meetei who are not even students of Motbung High School.
Besides resorting to malpractices, the accused teacher had also taken more money than the payable amount from some of the students on promises of allowing them to appear in the examination from some schools which are less strict, the spokesperson said, adding that the accused teacher has also admitted to the charges during the interrogation.
While informing that report of similar malpractices by some teachers other schools as well as teachers giving free hand to the students in some of the examination centres have also come to the notice of the Joint Task Force (Human Resources), the spokesperson said that henceforth serious attention would be paid in the matter.
Taking into consideration of the gravity of the crime, the Joint Task Force had earlier decided to award befitting punishment against the accused teacher.
However, as he had some problem on his leg as a result of an earlier accident, he would be let off with shooting on his left palm, the spokesperson announced.
The accused teacher also admitted to the charges levelled against him.
Pledging not to indulge in such malpractices in future, he also assured that the money taken from the students would be refunded.
