PC set to assess blockade impact

Imphal, October 26 2011:
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is set to review impacts of the ongoing blockade as well as the law and order situation of the State during his upcoming visit to the State.
An official source informed that the Home Minister would land here on November 2 and inaugurate the Senapati mini Secretariat.
After coming back from Senapati, the Home Minister would hold a meeting at Imphal where the prevailing law and order situation would be reviewed.
Together with the Chief Minister, the Union Home Minister will also assess the impacts of the protracted blockades for and against the Sadar Hills district demand.
Top officials of police, army, Assam Rifles and CRPF would also attend the review meeting.
On November 3, the Home Minister will inaugurate Tamenglong mini Secretariat.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Works Minister K Ranjit would conduct a field inspection of Senapati mini-Secretariat tomorrow.
The economic blockade imposed by the SHDDC has been in force since August 1 while the UC sponsored counter blockade came into force from August 21.Already four have died in blockade related incidents.
