In line with their humanitarian course of action, 12 Maratha Light Infantry has successfully treated a snake bite victim who was referred to a private hospital from RIMS following non-availability of anti-snake venom in the hospital.
However, the family of the young boy was not in a position to afford treatment charges of private hospitals.
Seven year old Imran Khan s/o Md Kalam of Naharup Pangong Makhong was bitten by a cobra while going for paddy harvesting at Nongmaiching foothills at about 10 am today.

Imran Khan was rushed to RIMS in a serious condition but the doctors said that there was no anti-snake venom.
The doctors tried to refer Imran to a private hospital but Md Kalam, the boy's father was not in a position to afford the treatment charges of a private hospital.
Finally one of the doctors suggested the medical unit of 12 MLI post of Imphal airport.
But when the boy was taken to 12 MLI hospital, his conditioned had worsened severely.
His condition improved after administering 15 vials of anti-snake venom.
12 MLI sources said that the boy would be discharged after his condition stabilised.
