Repeal AFSPA demand reverberates all over

Imphal, November 05 2011: To mark the completion of the 11 year fast by Irom Chanu Sharmila, anti-AFSPA demonstration and fast were held across the country and abroad today.

Apart from Imphal and Delhi, sit-ins were held at North America, Bangalore, Benaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Midnapore (WB), Tripura, Nagaon, Silchar, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Gujarat, Baroda university and Kerala.

A sit-in-protest was staged in front of Jiribam Higher Secondary School.

A demonstration was also organised by the All Assam Manipuri Students' Union, Lakhipur along with the Barak Valley Meitei Women Foundation, Lakhipur, Lakhipur Sub-Division Meira Paibi Committee, Barak Valley Meitei Convention, Lakhipur, Athouba Ningshing Lup.

At Silchar the Barak Valley Human Rights organised a protest demonstration.

The Nari Mukti Juva Samiti, Silchar, Borophala Meira Pabibi Lup, AAMSU and All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibee Co-ordiantion Committee took part in the demonstration.
