Relay hunger strike enters 50 day today

Imphal, January 27 2009: THE RELAY hunger strike staging at Porompat PDA complex commenced from December 10 last year with the voice of lifting of AFSPA act from the state to save Irom Sharmila spearheading by the Sharmila Kanba Lup entered 49 days today.

Since the commencement of the stir, womenfolk from across the state had taken part in the fasting for one day in relay in which many experts talk on the account of the Act.

Today also around 200 womenfolk including members of the Achanbigei Apunba Meira Paibi and Khabam Makha Leikai took part in the one-day fasting.

President of the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Khamba Laishram and general secretary of the National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO), Sunil Karam talked as resource person.
