Imphal, October 09 2011:
Kabui Samiti Manipur has objected to the notification of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur in connection with introduction of Ruangmei dialect instead of Kabui dialect as a language subject from the academic session 2009 and prescribing text books printed and published by Ruangmei Literature Society, Neikanglong, Imphal.
In a memorandum submitted to the Education Minister, the Samiti contended that the notification is unjust, unreasonable and arbitrary as Ruangmei is not a recognized district tribe unlike Kabui and the Board has bypassed consultation with an old and original body like Kabui Samiti Manipur before taking any decision in this regard.
Demanding the Board to review the matter, the memorandum further contended that the notification in question amounts to omission of the existence of Kabui as an enlisted scheduled tribe of Manipur.
