Residents threaten to ban vehicular movement

Imphal, January 27 2009: RESIDENTS ON the sides of the Porompat to Top Khongnangkhong today staged a sit-in protest against keeping the main road at the start without progress for a long time.

The participating people has threatened to ban plying and vehicles related with the Porompat water supply scheme if the concern authority do not commence the repairing works for black topping by January 29 .

The sit-in protest which was commenced from around 11 am and went on till 3 pm was staged jointly by the residents of Top Khongnangmakhong, Top Makha Leikai, Top Mayai Leikai, Kshetrigao, Kshetribangoon, and Top Naoriya under a JAC formed in connection with the non-completion of the works for a long time.

Speaking to the media persons, members of the JAC said that all kinds of motor vehicles will be banned from plying on this road if the authority resumes the repairing works by January 29 .
