Imphal, December 10 2009: Holding of seminar, discussion, exhibitions on violation of human rights by the state and non-state actors marked the observation of International Human Rights Day observed in the state.

The Manipur People Party (MPP), Threatened Indigenous People's Society (TIPS), Manipur University Centre for Human Rights Study, Civil Liberties and Human Rights Organisation (CLHRO), Social Volunteer's Association, Association of Independent Minds, Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup etc.

The Sharmila Kanba Lup observed the day to mark one year completion of the relay-hunger strike which has been carrying out at elsewhere Porompat PDA complex with a function at GM Hall, Imphal.

Speakers in the meeting lamented on government remaining silent on the repeal of the AFSPA, 1958 from the state even though all section of the society raise up in one voice.
