Imphal, February 06 2009:
The plea of Irom Sharmila, who has been on fast-unto-death strike for the repeal of AFSPA in Manipur since the last part of 2000 and who has been confined in the security ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, Porompat to meet with reporters has been rejected by the government, according to report received by the press.
Sharmila had submitted the written application to the government authorities on January 19 last seeking permission to grant for permission to meet with media persons to discuss the AFSPA in Manipur.
However, her application has been rejected by the Home department of the state government.
