The Joint Monitoring Group has deliberated the violation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) ground rules, while deployment of Assam Rifles along borderline was studied in a meeting of the Strategic Operation Group today.
In addition to leaders of SoO signatories, UPF and KNO, the meeting held at the banquet hall of 1st Bn Manipur Rifles this morning was also attended by officials of the Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF and State security agencies.
Violation of SoO ground rules figured prominently in the meeting presided by Chief Secretary DS Poonia.
It also reviewed progress of the construction work of designated camps for UG groups under SoO pact, said an official source.
The tripartite peace talk involving the Central Government, State Government and the UG groups is being carried forward smoothly with a clear understanding, conveyed the source.
In the afternoon, Chief Secretary DS Poonia chaired another meeting of the Strategic Operation Group which was also attended by Union Home Ministry's Joint Secretary Naveen Verma who is also in-charge of the North East Top officials of police, Assam Rifles, Army, CRPF and BSF were also present in the meeting.
It discussed the Home Ministry's instructions to deploy Assam Rifles closer to the international boundary with Myanmar.
Border fencing along Moreh Sector of Indo-Myanmar was another agenda of the meeting.
Besides making a comprehensive review of the prevailing law and order situation, the meeting deliberated on certain modifications in SoO ground rules with due consent of all parties concerned.
