Imphal, February 24, 2010:
The proscribed RPF has boycotted the scheduled visit of Home Secretary GK Pillai to the State on February 26.A press release issued by the outfit's department of publicity chief GM Changjou alleged that leaders of New Delhi visiting Manipur never did anything good for the people except scheming to consolidate the alien rule.
The real purpose of GK Pillai's scheduled visit to the State is to hoodwink the Chief Minister in order to strengthen the alleged military rule.
The outfit also censured the statements given by DGP Y Joykumar to a group of visiting journalists based outside the State a few days back.
Jibing back at the DGP's assertion that UG groups operating in Manipur are bereft of ideology and that the insur gency movement would be put to an end within 2/3 years, the RPF questioned credibility of these statements.
Security forces could not tackle even a simply crime that took place at Khwai Keithel and that they are better known for intimidating people in public places and killing people in staged-managed encounters.
Further alleging that security personnel lack ethics and that they are incapable of any act of valour, the outfit made a mockery of the DGP's statements.
It went on to say that State forces are able to go around with arrogance because of the stance of UG groups including the RPF, not to target State forces.
Asking the DGP to define the term principle/ideology more clearly, the outfit questioned did the DGP's principle/ideology mean delivering demand letters while in uniform or lobbing bombs in public places/private residences for some commission or the character of police officers who refused to take up any case until their palms were greased with money or robbery from commuters under cover of checking vehicles.
To get some material benefit out of the scheduled visit of Home Secretary GK Pillai, police officers like the DGP might be already preparing to play flattery.
Until and unless the sovereignty of Manipur is restored, RPF would continue to boycott all leaders of New Delhi visiting Manipur.
The outfit also sought people's cooperation towards its stance.
