A state native IRS officer, Pu Kaisang Gangte, Commissioner of Income Tax, died of heart attack yesterday at his official quarters in Bilaspur, Chhatisgarh.
He was 43 .
Born at Santing, a remote village in the interior of Churachandpur district on December 25, 1956, Kaisang had managed to crack the prestigious UPSC exam against all odds.
His was a rag to riches story, a saga full of trials and tribulation which later becomes a glaringly exemplary for all and sundry.
An affable officer, Kaisang Gangte was also the Vice Chairman of Gangte Christian Fellowship, Delhi.
Pu Kaisang is survived by wife Pi Zodinpui, daughter Irene, sons Sony Siemgousang and Varthuomlien.
Condolence service will be at 7 pm on May 21, 2009 at Flat No.249, Sanskriti Appartment, DDA Flat, Dwarka Sector 19 while his funeral service will be held at Nicholson Christian Cemetery, New Delhi on May 22.The condolence and funeral services will be solemnised by Rev.Dino L.Touthang, Director EFICOR, an informed source disclosed.

Kamlalzom, a 2007 batch IRS officer of the community says "It is too shocking to hear the news who's well exemplary story of rags to riches story has been widely read and admire by young and old alike".
"To me, Pu Kaisang was sincere and determined human beings.
Against all odds, he sailed through UPSC exams from remote Manipur village.
His sudden demised is a great loss which will be hard to fill," Gin Gangte, an IIS cadre says.
"We are really shocked.
It is a great loss not only for the Gangte community, but for the whole nation to loss such an efficient and respected officer," HT Gangte, IPS, Commandant 2nd IRB writes on Ganggam.com.
Condolence message continues to pour in from various nook and corners of the globe.
The Mizo Zirlai Pawl, Chiengkawnpang Branch, acknowledges him as 'one of the big Mizo Officers while deeply mourning the sudden demise of the officer.
Lalboi Gangte from Manila, Philippines, T Kaplien, Chief of Kawnpi, et al have also sent their condolence message.
"He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him," Lalboi Gangte says.
