Imphal, October 11 2009: Imphal West district police commandos apprehended two underground activists today from different places at separate times.

A statement issued by the SSP of Imphal West, L Kailun claimed that Imphal West district police commandos apprehended the finance secretary of UKLA (MC) activist today around 5am from the residence of one Seigin Haokip of Hebron Veng of Type-II, Langol Housing Complex.

The apprehended UKLA (MC) activist has been identified as Dampular Haokip alias Lenpu alias Demkholal (37), son of Azang Haokip of Kholep village in Senapati district.

On verification, he disclosed that he joined the outfit in March this year and is serving as finance secretary of the outfit.

He was assigned to extort money from Moreh Customs, FCS Saikul, TD (Secretariat), and government officials for party fund, the statement added.

Meanwhile, a separate statement of the Imphal West SSP claimed that Imphal West district police commandos nabbed a UNLF cadre, identified as Khomdram Ratan (43), son of Kh Ibotombi of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai, from his house today around 9.15am.On verification, he was said to have disclosed that he is working under the command of Umakanta, s/s 2nd Lt of the UNLF.

One mobile handset was seized from his possession, the statement added.
