Manipur Home Department has confirmed detention of seven rebels including two women, leader of the KCP (City Meetei) and a sympathizer for 12 months in jail under the National Security Act (NSA), official source said today.
Meanwhile, an activist of the proscribed UPPK who, police charged of involving in the shooting of an advocate injuring him recently along with three other activists of different outfits have been nabbed by the Imphal East police commandos in joint operations with troops of Assam Rifles in the last two days, said SP, Imphal East, Th Radheshyam in a statement today.
An official source in the state home department today said that seven rebels including the sympathizer whose detentions under NSA were issued by the concern district magistrates have been confirmed by the state home department.
The home department confirmed it after the sittings of the Advisory Board of the NSA approved the ground for detention of the rebels arrested by the security forces in different of time.
The advisory board approved the ground of detention mention in the NSA detention orders issued by the district magistrate and the potential dangers of continuing their activities when released them from jail.
The sympathizer who met the NSA term is identified as Yumnam Kumarjit (37), son of Tomba of Thoubal Kiyam in Thoubal district.
He has been alleged of being a sympathizer of various underground outfits.
The two women detent under the same Act were Thokchom Kamala Devi @ Maya (38), wife of Indrajit of Toubul Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district and Laishram Sanajaobi @ Ayang @ Thoibi @ Boinu @ Jampui (28), daughter of Ibungobi of Thambalkhong, Imphal east.
Kamala belongs to KCP (MC) while Sanajaobi to KCP-City Meetei.
The detention order of leader of the KCP (City Meetei) named Naorem Brojen alias James alias City Meetei alias Hobby (32) son of Nara of Tentha Khunou Bazar in Thoubal district, the leader of the KCP (City Meetei) issued by Thoubal district magistrate has also been confirmed the source.
Other included in the confirmation order issued by the home department included Salam Brojen (30), son of Matumba of Sagang Bazar in Bishnupur, a cadre of the KCP (MC), Thangjam Brijit alias Bhagat (25), son of Lukhoi of Kachikhul in Imphal West of KYKL and Thoudam Ibomcha @ Boby @ Leishemba @ Maigeingakpa (29), son of Jugeshor of Toubul Mayai Leikai, a UNLF cadre.
Meanwhile, a statement of the Imphal East SP, Th Radheshyam today said that four cadres of different underground outfits have been nabbed by the Imphal east police commandos in the last two days.
Among them one belongs to United People Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), a newly formed outfit by the cadres of the PREPAK.
The cadre identified as P Prepa @ Guite (30), son of P Babu of Liwa Road, Imphal was nabbed from Lamlong Bazar in Imphal east on March 28 and involved in extortion of money from the government officials, businessmen and shops.
He has been alleged of shooting to injure at the leg of one Congress workers Meinam Tombi of Uripok last weekend.
The police commandos of the district in joint operation with troops of 32 Assam Rifles also nabbed two cadres of KYKL identified as Takhellambam Pinky @ Arun of Bamon Leikai, Imphal east and Nongthonbam Amit @ Ayangba (24), son of Ibohanbi Meetei of Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Imphal east on March 29 around 7 am from Kongpal area.
Today also one cadre of PREPAK namely Thokchom Chandrakumar @ Negro (22), son of Jamini of Keirao Bitra of Imphal East was nabbed from his resident this morning by a combined team of Imphal East police commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles, the SP stated.
