Imphal, January 27 2009:
VILLAGERS OF the Khoidum village under Kakching police station in Thoubal district today while alleging that security forces caused panicky to the villagers apart from taking away their belongings blamed them who are mean for protection of properties and lives of the people today.
According to the villager on January 25 last in name of searching underground elements, the security forces fired several rounds of guns in the village causing panic to the villagers.
The incident took place when villagers are away from home for working outside the village and the security personnel also took away belongings, they added.
A 72-year old man of the village named Laishram Angou said that apart from beaten him up by the security forces, they also used bad language while scolding a 21-year old girl of his family.
He also alleged the security force for attempting to molest the girl.
The security forces also ransacked and destroyed properties of the houses in the village during their search operation on that day, the villagers said.
Mayengbam Amubi while strongly denouncing the act of the security forces said that in the name of searching undergrounds entered to the houses and took away gold ornaments, domestic fowls, even phanek.
She also demanded intervention of the government authority to the atrocities meted out by the security forces.
