Villagers of Kharasom in interior Ukhrul district has been reportedly reeling under water scarcity.
Headman of Kharasom village, ZN Shimray said the failure of the government to translate its promise of fitting water pipes for the village fifteen years back has rendered the people to suffer.
He said, the old pipes were unusable now.
The village headman said, fetching water in the river has become a full time job for at least one member of a family of the village.
He also lamented that the inter-village roads are at its worst state.
The roads are in bad and pathetic shape.
During rainy season, the village roads could not be used.
The unawareness of the local people on the natural resources of the area is another worry for the headman.
He therefore draws the attention of the authority concerned to redress the grievances of the villagers.
