A public meeting demanding establishment of facts and circumstances leading to the death of Ningombam ningol Sarangthem ongbi Renubala and her daughter Alva was held today at Khongjom Bazar community hall under the aegis of the JAC constituted against the controversial twin death.
Other demands of the meeting included framing chargesheet in connection with the death of Renubala and Alva, putting an end to killing of women and children etc.
The meeting also adopted several resolutions.
Urging the Government to establish facts and circumstances leading to the death of Renubala and Alva, punishment of those found guilty, urging the authority to put in place effective measures to check crime against women and children and launching mass struggle to establish the facts of the death/killing jointly by the civil organisations of Salungpham Circle, the JAC and others JACs constituted in connection with killing of women and children in Thoubal district earlier were some of the resolutions adopted at the meeting.
Ningombam Renubala (30) of Khongjom Sapam Leikai was married to Sarangthem Bishorjit of Salungpham.
They had a daughter.
But Renubala and her daughter Alva were found dead at her husband's home on July 18 .
The JAC has been contending that the death of the mother-daughter duo was not a case of suicide but murder.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the JAC president Khundrakpam Yaimabi, Sapam Gram Panchayat Pradhan Sapam Rameshwar, president of the United Muslim Women Development Association Sitara Begum, president of Momnu Irikhombi Lup AK Janaki and president of the Poirei Leimarol Maira Paibi Apunba Manipur Memchoubi as presidium members.
