Media persons in Nagaland have been recommended Security Identity Cards as decided by a committee consisting of the Police and allied media administration of the IPR and the Press.
A letter addressed to the Director General of Police today from the commandant of 13th NAP (IR) informed the police chief of the resolutions taken by the Police and the Press in the August 22 meeting of the committee.
The committee met for the first time in Chumukedima to work out modalities and deliberate for a system to adopting Security ID Cards to journalists and Media people in.
The committee has agreed to have a common computerised Security ID Card for members of the Press fraternity.
The Security ID Card with two different colors would be introduced for the Media / Press, one each for working journalist/reporters and other Press members � the latter differentiated as people who are not press reporters/journalists but supporting staff/functionaries of the Media/Press.
Forms and format for the computerised Security ID Card will be issued to all members of the Press in the state which would be filled up by the individual journalist in concern and submit it through their respective Press Club presidents.
Each president of the district Press club is designated as the authorised signatory.
He is to scrutinise the details of each of the forms received for issuing Security ID Card and communicate its authenticity by way of verification.
He is then to forward it to the convener for issuance of the Security ID Card.
The individual press man in concern would bear the cost of printing of the respective Security ID Card.
The committee has decided on three-years validity of the Security ID Card issued to the media persons.
The committee also agreed that the computerised Security ID Card will bear the Nagaland State Logo and the Nagaland Police Department Emblem.
The committee has entrusted its convenor, L Singsit (IPS), DIG (R/ NAP) Dimapur and member, Renchamo P.Kikon (IPS), Commandant 13 NAP (IR) Bn for the design and layout of the Security ID Card.
The Security ID Card is to be issued under the signature of Nagaland Director General of Police K Kire, IPS.
