Imphal, April 03 2009: Expressing concern over the inaction of the Government on the murder of Dr Kishan and his two staff who were kidnapped and killed later by the NSCN (IM), the Kuki Movement for Human Rights calls for the Government to act justly and bring the perpetrators to a proper court without any further delay.

"Why should the murder case be handed over to the CBI after the culprits have been identified already and when they are being kept in the custody of the NSCN (IM)?" questioned a statement issued by the Chairman of the KUMHUR, Dr T Lunkim.

Citing the numerous incidents wherein high ranking Kuki officers have been killed by the NSCN (IM) and referring to the various lives � of chiefs, students, social workers, women, children, invalids, etc � lost and several villages uprooted by the same NSCN (IM) in their so-called 'freedom movement,' Dr T Lunkim stated that the Kuki people are not surprised for the inaction of the government for not giving security and protection to its citizens in many situations like the recent murder incident of Dr Kishan and his subordinates.

Dr Lunkim said that the Kuki people have enough experience of the long awaited demand of justice for the 900 innocent Kukis killed and more than 360 villages uprooted by the NSCN (IM) .

Pointing out that more than 60 memoranda had been submitted to the four former Prime Ministers and the incumbent PM, Dr Lunkim lamented that the Kuki Inpi delegates, who had requested the Government to institute a high power commission to investigate the magnitude of killing innocent Kukis, were not granted audience on several occasions.

Doubting the presence of a Government in India which cares for the welfare of its citizens, Dr Lunkim further asked, "Did they bring justice to the over 900 innocent Kukis killed and officers like Dr Kishan and his two fellow staff by the NSCN (IM)?".

"Could we still have faith in such government irrespective of party or coalition government? Or are they hand in glove with the NSCN (IM)?" Dr Lunkim categorically asks while demanding justice and protection for peaceful coexistence.
