Agricultural training programme held in Ukhrul

Imphal, April 30 2010: A one-day farmers' training cum demonstration programme was organised by KVK Ukhrul under the aegis of the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at Sikibung village, Ukhrul district today.

The training cum demonstration programme which mainly focused on System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Kharif vegetables and disease management of livestock in hills was attended by around 100 farmers.

Dr L Loken of KVK Ukhrul spoke on "Disease Control and Management of Livestock (Piggery and Poultry) in Hills, Ng Sanatombi of KVK Imphal spoke on "Production and Management of Important Kharif Vegetables in Hills" as Entomologist of Agriculture Department Dr Kh Nimaichand educated the farmers on "Production of Rice under System of Rice Intensification in Hills".

Later, the resource persons went to fields together with local farmers and demonstrated implementation of SRI and IPM.

On the other hand, a two-day training programme on Integrated Wasteland Development Project jointly organised by KVK Chandel and DRDA Chandel at Reach-M Nungourok, Chandel concluded today.
