The two-day Kakching bazar bandh called by Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) in protest against demands for extortion of huge amounts from the shopkeepers by various insurgent groups has ended today with a sit-in-protest held at Kakching Naohallai ground.
A press release issued by president of KBBWA, Th Budhi stated that the shopkeepers who are doing business at Kakching bazar are unable to carry on their business peacefully due to demands for extortion of huge amount of money.
Moreover, many persons who claimed to be members of various insurgent groups have been creating a lot of inconveniences to the shopkeepers.
Making an earnest appeal, the president of KBBWA urged all concerned not to try to break the Association.
The Association urged the police to release Naorem Nimaichand of Kakching Ningthou Leikai and Salam Achou of Kakching Wairi Salam Leikai, who were arrested on January 17, without any condition.
The two persons are innocent shopkeepers, who are trying to make a living out of running shop, the press release said.
