RK Maipaksana birth anniversary observed

Imphal, October 11 2009: The 85th birth anniversary of RK Maipaksana was observed today at JN Manipur Dance Academy here under the aegis of the RK Maipaksana Memorial Trust.

The occasion was graced by Padmashree RK Jhaljit and former Director of Education Elangbam Yaima as the chief guest and president respectively.

Recalling the contributions of RK Maipaksana to the society, RK Jhaljit remembered him as a pioneer journalist and politician.

Offering floral tribute to the portrait of RK Maipaksana, release of souvenir and a book-written by K Modhumangol, and awarding of RK Maipaksana Journalist Fellowship were the main highlights of the programme.

The fellowship was awarded to a columnist of The Sangai Express (Manipuri edition), Nomita Khongbantabam.
