A state level sensitization workshop on decentralizing HIV services in Imphal West was held today at Hotel Nirmala, coordinated by the Solidarity and Action Against HIV Infection in India (SAATHI) in partnership with Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) and NRHM, Imphal West.
The workshop was graced by V Vumlunmang, IAS, Commissioner, Health and Family Welfare as the chief guest while the guests of honour were Dr Pramodkumar Singh, Dr RK Lakshana, District AIDS Officer, Imphal West; Dr Jadumani, District Mission Director (CMO), Imphal West; Sushil Huidrom, state coordinator, UNAIDS.
The workshop was also attended by MACS officers, key functionaries from RIMS, JN Hospitals, Positive Networks, NGOs and CVOs and other partners working in the field of HIV preventions, care and treatment in Imphal West.
According to the organizer, the project will be carried out in Imphal West as a pilot phase till November 2009.Major activities will include training and mentoring of health care providers, strengthening documentation and referral systems for care, support and treatment of HIV infected and at-risk population, establishing sustainable linkages with government, civil society and other partners.
