Imphal, May 31 2009: Around 100 Meira Paibi volunteers of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda staged the relay hunger strike on its 174th day organized by Sharmila Kanba Lup (SAKAL) at PDA Complex, Porompat in support to the solitary strife of Irom Sharmila against the government to repeal the most brutal Act of Armed Forces Special Power Act 1958 (AFSPA) from the Manipur.

The relay hunger strike has been organized by SAKAL under the theme of "Repeal AFSPA, Save Sharmila".

A volunteer on the strike said that the hunger strike of Sharmila is not for her personal cause but it is for the whole citizen of the state and also appealed the whole citizen of the state to take part at the relay hunger strike.

Meanwhile, around 100 Meira Paibi volunteers of Langdum Mayai Leikai and Thumkhong Leikai Meira Paibi under the organization of SAKAL has also observed relay hunger strike at the community hall of Thoubal Langdum.

The Thoubal relay hunger strike has completed 115 days today.
