Imphal, February 24 2009:
Secretary of Kangleipak Loinasillon Apunba Marup (KLAM), Mayengbam Unbileima on behalf of KLAM and Indigenous people of Manipur in a statement drew the attention of the government to maintain separate status of Sanamahi and Govinda so as to bring religious prosperity and peace in the state.
The statement said that India is popular throughout the world for its secularism where various religions including Hindu, Islam, Christianity and Jainism co-exist peacefully.
The faith of Sanamahi apart from being one of the most valuable faiths in the world, is the oldest cult and faith of the indegenous people of the land.
Surprisingly, it said they are treating with minority status even in its home state.
The statement urged the state government to reconsider to its plan to submit the Umanglai Thoukal Paring of Sanamahi faith under the Govindaji Temple Board forcibly which will amount to create massive social uproar.
It can be mention that the indigenous faith of Umanglai had been shattered once during the reign of kings in the state.
The government needs to ponder over the current act of suppression over the Sanamahi faith under the world wide popular secularism of the nation.
KLAM also urged the government to peacefully run the society considering the tradition, public attitude and social structure of the state.
