The Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) today distributed awards to the position holders of this year HSLC exam conducted by the board with a function held at JN Dance Academy, Imphal.
A total of 22 awards instituted by the board and state department of science and technology were distributed on the occasion.
The awards consisted of cash amount, book and citation.
State education minister, L Jayentakumar who attended the function as chief guest said that he will hold consultation with intellectuals and academicians on the diminishing literature of the state by the replacement of Bengali Script of the Manipuri by indigenous Meetei Scripts.
He also expressed concern over the diminishing sociological system existing between the people of hills and valley stated that the process has led to the eruption of many unwanted happening in the society.
The minister also said that in the next two or three years there will come up a remarkable change in the education system of the state.
The changes are to be come both on the quality of education and infrastructure.
Chairperson of the board Ibempishak who presided the function said there is a consideration of replacing the present ranking system in HSLC exam by grading system.
But there is no definite plan for the board enforcing the grading system for the time being.
She also expressed fear of coming up of protest if grading system is introduced in the board.
But if it is introduced at the countrywide, the board will introduce it.
