The Karyemkhu Students Union (KSU) an organisation of the Maring community commenced its two-day silver jubilee celebration today at public ground of Sandang Shenba Maring Khul, Senapati district.
Th Shyamkumar, Deputy Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly and Morung Makunga, MLA Tengnoupal Assembly Constituency graced the function as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Founder president of KSU Merang Morung presided over the function.
Shyamkumar who unveiled a jubilee monument also released a souvenir on the occasion.
In his speech, Th Shaymkumar said, "There will be no misunderstanding and communal ill-feelings among the different communities if we adopt and maintain the culture and discourse of our own religion" .
He also pleaded the villagers to help in building the village community hall.
MLA Morung Makunga in his speech said that, the culture and religion of a community identifies a community in the society.
So, "we should cultivate and maintain our own culture even if we adopted Christianity, otherwise the Maring community may become extinct one day".
Social worker Thongram Gopen said, "We should maintain the peaceful and love relation among the different communities residing in the state." Communal ill-feeling and misunderstanding will not bring any development in the state, he added.
Maring War Dance (Ral Rou Chun) and cultural dance competition was also held as part of the celebration.
