Imphal, September 08, 2009:
Six Kuki bodies have urged the government to shift the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district to some other suitable places where all the communities inhabiting Chandel district could access the benefits of it.
Talking to reporters today at Molhoi village in Chandel district, President of Kuki Chief Association, Nehthang Haokip representing the Kuki Chief Association, Kuki Welfare Association, Kuki Peoples' Forum, Kuki Women Human Rights, Kuki Sporting Association and Thadou Students' Assocaition alleged that some major communities inhabiting around the DC office have monopolised the DC office.
He said people from the major communities at Chandel district headquarters have enjoyed the benefits of the DC Office.
Demanding the re-location of the DC Office to suitable place where around 20 communities inhabiting the district could enjoy equal opportunity extended through the DC office, Nehthang said the office should be attached at Imphal until the office is shifted.
Nehthang alleged that the Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) and Anal Naga Tribe's Association (ANTA) have been monopolising the DC office.
He said the incident on Monday was the evidence.
Nehthang pointed out that when the incumbent DC of Chandel was transferred for the first time in the district, CNPO and ANTA had strongly apposed his taking charge.
But those people who have conspired among themselves have now opposed the transfer of Devesh Dewal.
He said that the DC office is not only meant for some privileged communities.
It is for all communities.
Therefore, he demanded the re-location.
