A government servant in the state Public Health Engineering Department has been allegedly enjoying in-service salary even after he had retired from service nearly four years back.
Senapati district police have taken up a regular case against the man named O Hera Singh who served as a clerk charging him of concealing the order for his retirement and cheating the authority.
The case was taken after the Executive Engineer, Water Supply Maintenance Division No.II lodged a complaint on March 29 .
In the complaint note of the EE, G Lungailin stated that the clerk had actually retired on February 29, 2004 after attaining the age of superannuation.
The Chief Engineer, PHED had issued an order allowing him to retire from service with effect from 29 February, 2004 .
In spite of the fact, the complaint note added that the clerk, Hera kept concealed all the office documents in his custody without submitting then to the EE Water Supply Maintenance Division No.II, PHED, Manipur and continued to enjoy his monthly salary by rendering service to the post upto August 31, 2008 .
Police source said that in accordance with the complaint note filed by the EE, Senapati division G Lungninglin, Senapati police registered a regular case has been registered against the clerk accusing him of misconduct and for recovery of the amount he had withdrawn fraudulently.
