Protest against the July 23 incident of Khwairamband market continued in the state as students and womenfolk staged protests at several places today.
Around 200 girls of Lamshang area also staged a sit-in-protest at Lamshang Bazar today to mark a strong protest against the July 23 'fake encounter.' The sit-in protest started around 10 am and continued till 4 pm.
According to the girls participating in the protest, they decided to join the protest agitations as they could no longer remain silent over the criminal acts of the security forces and to extend solidarity to the people's agitations.

They also decried the state government for not being able to find out the facts of the incident in which young pregnant housewife Rabina Devi and Ch Sanjit were killed.
Since that day 31 days have already passed, the girls said and insisted the government on fulfilling the demands of the Apunba Lup and the JACs formed in connection with the killing of Rabina and Sanjit at the earliest, and end the prevailing chaotic situation in the state.
Supporting the people's demands for resignation of the Chief Minister, O Ibobi and punishment to the police commando personnel involved in the incident, students of several schools today staged sit-in protest in their respective schools.
Students of the CC Higher Secondary School, Palace Compound who planned to stage a sit-in protest in front of the school gate were forced to converged in the school campus and lathi-charged them.
The police commandos also allegedly scolded the principal and teachers with uncivilized words.
Dissatisfied over the act of the police, students speaking to the media persons said, the students started gathering at the school at about 12.30 for staging a sit-in protest decrying the July 23 shooting incident.
Police dispersed them with lathi-charge before the start of the protest.
A student named Richardson sustained injury in the police baton charge, they said strongly condemned the attitude of police showed to the principal of the school.
Students staging protest at Ananda Singh Academy, Checkon and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary were also dispersed by the police.
The protest was staged by the students of the Pioneer Academy, Palace compound.
Womenfolk of Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai also staged sit-in protest at Thumbuthong.
On the other hand, alleged excessive meted out by the police towards the women protestors participating in the rally on August 22 was strongly condemned by the Coordinating Committee Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, NH-53 .
Mention may be made that police foiled the rally using tear gas and mob bombs.
Womenfolk alleged that police beaten up the women protestors by snatching the torch in their hands.
Police also fired tear gas and mob bombs at the houses nearby and lathi-charge to the women residing at their homes.
