The District Health mission Society Tamenglong today organized three days health mela at Nungba Sub-Division of Tamenglong district with PC Lawmkunga, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur as chief guest, KL Lamba Commandant of 172 Battalion of CRPF and Sumant Singh IAS, Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong as guest of honour and president of the inaugural function here in the morning today.
The health mela was formally open by cutting of red ribbon by the chief guest, PC Lawmkunga, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur here Nungba Higher Secondary school complex today.
Speaking as chief guest speech PC Lawmkunga, IAS said that the government of India, particularly the state government is concern about the health of the citizen and has take up many steps to improve the health.
50 years ago the government gives milk powder to the children for nutrition but today the health awareness and health facilities was given at the door step through outreach camp and health mela, he said.
During his stayed at Tamenglong as Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong in 1987, PC Lawmkunga, IAS Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur said that there was no health camp conducted and very few doctors and nurses are posted in the district hospital.
Good health of the individual makes a healthy society and healthy national depends on health society, health is very important for nation.
If valuable health is lost the nation will be lost, adding that to maintain good and healthy body one has to care for food.
In the meantime, while addressing come address, Dr Chambo Gonmei, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong said that it was a third times that Health Mela under District Health Mission Society Tamenglong is organizing here today.
Many poor people from remote villages at this Sub- Division can't avail health facilities either district hospital nor at the PHC or CHC due to long distance and lack of specialist doctors in the district.
Many sick patients including pregnant women were also lost their live on their way for treatment in Imphal, stated the CMO Tamenglong.
He also appealed the people of Nungba Sub- Division.
and its areas to take this rare facility with seriously.
KL Lamba Commandant of 172 Battalion of CRPF also spoke on the occasion and hope that young, old men and women of the local people will be benefited through the health mela.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the health mela Sumant Singh, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong said that the health mela was to improve the health of the rural people.
The district administration have great concern about the health of the people and has take up many steps to improve the health through outreach camp, health camp so that the doctors can examine the sick people in round trip as no sufficient doctors was posted here at Tamenglong district, he said.
He also mentioned about the National Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes, NREGS as change into Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Schemes, MREGS.
The district administration has given 100 days of works and wages 81.40 per day last year and this also sanction 70 mandays wages, he said.
Just after the inaugural function was over the OPD was open, where the people throng the health mela to avail the facilities.
It is worth mentioned that as many as 22 stalls were open here at the health mela including registration and reception counter, BP checkup room, drug dispensary, Gynae & Obstetrics, Eye (Ophthalmology), general medicines, Pediatrics, ENT, Dental, dressing and injections, surgery, minor OT, Immunization/ family welfare, DAPCC/ICTC, Malaria, Leprosy, Ayush, RNTCP, Laboratory, inquiry/NRHM research centre, material and equipment room and tea stall by local body.
