Two officials of the Union ministry of health arrived in Imphal to take stock of the precautionary measures taken up by the state government to combat, if Swine Flu spread like epidemic in the state.
State health authority, in the meantime is all set to open separate OPD wards both at JN Hospital and RIMS hospital to content with the dreaded disease considering the scenario of the spreading disease.
The two officials of the Union health ministry arriving in the state today were Dr AK Puri and Dr S Kulsetra.
As soon as they arrived at Imphal, they inspected the precautionary measures taken in the state for combating with the outbreak of the Swine Flu and spread of H1N1 along with Dr Inaoba posting at the regional centre of the Union ministry of home affairs.
When they arrived at the Imphal Airport, the two officials inspected the checking of the people coming from outside the state by flight at the airport by the experts of the state health department.
Later, they inspected the measure taken up at JN Hospital, Porompat like the isolated ward opened recently since the confirmation of a girl infection by the flu.
They also asked the hospital authority to procure mask and other necessary medicines for the flu from the funds from the Central sponsored scheme, National Rural Health Mission (NHRM).
The officials while inspecting the precautionary measures taken up by the authorities of the RIMS seated with director, Dr Fimate and medical superintendent, Dr Y Mohen.
Meanwhile, Director of regional health centre, Dr Naoba said, authority had imparted awareness and training to the doctors and nurses of the RIMS and NJ hospital on how to deal with the people infected by the disease.
Workshops with regard to contentment of the swine flu will also be held at the earliest to aware the doctors and nurses across the state.
When contacted with, Inoaba further said even though state is taking up for combating with the swine flu, the state is yet to prepare special precautionary plan to combat with the disease.
He further said that so far state has no swine flu testing laboratory.
A proposal for procuring swine flu testing machine will be put up to the Centre at the earliest, he said.
The two officials of the Centre arriving in Imphal today will hold a level meeting with the officials of the state government led by chief secretary and review the steps taken up by the state for combating with the dreaded disease.
The team when back from the state will submit a report to the Union ministry of health, source said.
