CM inaugurates longest bridge of Manipur
Frequent change in government hampers development process: O Ibobi

Chief Minister O Ibobi inaugurated the longest bridge in Manipur at Serou on the Serou Chakpi River under Thoubal district, today.
The 253.35 metres long Serou Bridge was built by the Public Works Department under the Special Plan Assistance (SPA) funding at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crores.
The construction work was started in the month of February 2008 and was completed in September this year.
The RCC Box Cell type bridge has a breadth of 12 metres, including the footpath.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that newly inaugurated longest bridge in the state will be of great help to the people residing in Chandel, Churachandpur and Thoubal districts.
The government, in no way is trying to develop the plains only.
It has been trying its level best, and is hopefully succeeding in bringing about equal development of both the hills and the plains.
Frequent changes in the government, asserted the Chief Minister, will hamper the developmental works of the state.
In order to carry out all the development works started by the SPF government properly and also to complete it, there is the need for the SPF government to come to power again.
With the full support of the people, the SPF government will be able to fulfill its goal.

He further said that there can be no development in the state without the co operation of the people.
A number of organizations are creating problems for the people by staging bandhs and blockades in the state.
The government understands that these things creeps up every now and then because the people are not satisfied with the prevailing situations, as such the governments is still bearing all the pain.
He further went on to say that the demand of the people for converting Sugnu Nagar Panchayat into a municipality will be discussed with the representative of the constituency.
Kakching Khunnou Nagar Panchayat has also been converted into a municipality.
There are also demands for the same with Yairipok Nagar Panchayat.
All these demands will be discussed in details and incorporated.
An SBI branch will also be opened in Sugnu bazaar shortly.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister K Ranjit said that the construction and inauguration of the Serou Bridge built on the Chakpi River is a blessing for the people of the area.
This project has always been the long awaited dream of every individual of Serou.
Many people the sick people of the hills have died as they were not able to cross the Chakpi River.
People then had to cross the river using boats whenever they wanted to visit Imphal.
But now the problem has been solved forever.
All the credit for constructing this bridge goes to the SPF government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
He further went on to say that a 7 crore project to build the Chakpi Multipurpose Project will be taken up shortly.
Apart from this, there are also plans to construct the Sugnu market with an estimated cost of Rs 8.72 lakhs.
The function was also attended by Speaker I Hemochandra, Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayentakumar, RD and PR Minister Md Allaudin Khan, MP Thangso Baite, MLA Bjoy Koijam, E Dwijamani, Thangkhulun, M Prithiviraj and other top officials of various government departments.
