Villagers of Leimatak Kabui village under Khoupum police station of Tamenglong district numbering around 150 including women and children displaced themselves and are taking sheltered at Namngaijang village of Bishnupur district.They have been displaced after the villagers of Nungleiban where Kukis are settle came to the village and convinced them to settle together in the village, said a member of the Nungsai Village Authority , K Kangangai.
Leimatak Kabui village which remained deserted after the Kabuis displaced during the 1993 communal clashes was resettled again the villagers in 1999.But they have to left their homes once again when Kukis settling at Nungleiban led by the chief of the village Helam Kipgen came on January 28 last and asked to settle together with them in the village with his brother as chief of the village, Kangangai said.
He further said that the chief of the Nungleiban village came amidst the apprehension of what would happened in the next moment since clashes occurred between rivals of Kuki militants in June and October last year.
They wanted to return back to their village after intervention to the mater by the Kuki Inpi, Manipur and Zeliangrong Youth Front, he said.
