Imphal, April 09 2011:
A Government move to appoint teachers of SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) and RMSA (Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan) on mark basis receives a strong criticism from the Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), who compares Ibobi's government to the rule under Sultan of Mohammad Bin Tuglak.
DESAM, in a statement, said that the cabinet decision shows that government is not taking keen interest in the improvement of education system and demanded immediate revocation of the cabinet decision.
The decision of the government is nothing but luring people to earn its popularity.
But they consider it as a decision of a government having no definite policy of
its own.
The government decision shows that men in the government had no idea of what a teacher all about and what are the necessary qualifications to be possessed by a man who wanted to become a teacher.
If government move is consider a right step, then, will it be better to appoint IAS, IPS and MCS and MPS on document and mark basis instead of conducting competitive exams by the UPSC and MPSC respectively.
If so, there is no need for functioning MPSC, abolish it, the student body suggests.
The decision to select teachers of SSA and RMSA on mark basis is not a right step and cannot be a valid one.
Besides this, it would not be a fair one as the marking system is differs from board to board.
The way of mark allocation under board and council in Manipur is quite meager compared to other boards and councils outside the state.
Apart from this, state government recognized the NIOS conduct exams in the state till 2003 and students who passed from the NIOS secured at the average of 80 to 90% .
No one considered the kind of exam the NIOS authority conduct the exams.
In the degree level too, earlier, the bachelor degree courses were completed in two year and the pattern was changed later by converting it as three year degree course in due course of time.
Government is seemed unaware of such differences and changes that had brought about in the last few years, the DESAM went on to observe.
