The condition of one 44-year Khaithem Loken of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai who sustained injury at the eye when hit by tear gas shells yesterday to quell protestor is stated to be till serious.
On the other hand an 81 year old woman wounded severely at her calf after hit by tear gas shell fired by the police commandos has been hospitalized today.
Loken who has been admitted at Eye Ward of the RIMS Hospital after he received injuries at face and eye in the police tear gas firing is stated to be in serious.
Doctor Ibohanbi attending him said resuming his eye sigh will take long time.
Condition of his right is critical and his face was severely burnt, the doctor added.
Wife of Loken told reporters today that her husband is earning livelihood with auto-rickshaw passenger service by hiring the vehicle with Rs 350 per day from the owner.
They have a nine year old son and two year old daughter.
If he happened lost his eye sigh, she will face hardship in running the family.
Her husband, Loken was not among the agitators.
He went out from home to lokk at the situation if he can service auto-rickshaw for earning some money for the day.
He happened to face agitators confronting with the police.
Police fired a tear gas shell toward him to injure at the face and eye.
She has no mean to afford the money for treating her husband if doctors advise for treating outside the state for saving for losing eye sigh.
On the other hand, RIMS Voluntary Health Unit has started serving people day and night for helping the injured people in the agitation.
Meanwhile, an aged old woman sustained severely at the calf when police fired tear gas at about 5 pm near the bridge at Uripok connecting Meino Leirak and Salam Leikai.
The 81 year old woman was identified as Salam Ibemnungsi of Salam Leikai.
She received the injury when police fired tear gas while she was going with another woman running a hotel at the locality to meet her married daughter.
The commandos were coming from Sagolband Moirang Leirak side in a vehicle.
Family of the old woman said that at the time of firing the tear gas shell, no people gathered, agitation or any kinds of protest was staged.
The act of the police commandos
has confused them.
After sustaining injury, family was not allowed to evacuate her to the hospital but they (police commandos) took her to the hospital (at RIMS casualty ward), they added.
