Ranjita Murder Case : Accused Ibomcha given 15 days' judicial remand

Laisram Ibomcha of Khoirom Ataobung Bazar, who has been accused and arrested by police for his alleged involvement in the murder of Lourembam ongbi Ranjita Devi of Khoirom Mathak Leikai under Yairipok Police Station on August 2 last, was remanded to judicial custody for 15 days after he was produced before the court of CJM Thoubal today.
In spite of the tight security put in place to prevent any untoward incident, a huge mob including members of the JAC formed in connection with Ranjita's murder thronged the court complex shouting slogans.
As expressed by AAP of CJM L.Bimol, around 70 percent of the investigations on the death of Lourembam Ranjita have been completed since the Yairipok Police took up the case under FIR no.72 (8) 2014 under section 302 IPC.
He added that as per the request from Investigating Officer of the case SDPO Yairipok S.Hemanta, the court has ordered the judicial remand for another 15 days.

It may be mentioned that accused Ibomcha was earlier given 10 days judicial remand by the court.
Meanwhile, a public meeting organized by the JAC against the murder of Ranjita on August 16 last demanded capital punishment for the accused killer so as not to repeat such incidents in future, informed JAC Convener Kh.
Mera Meitei. The meeting also resolved to seek the support of PPCM to bring the issue at the state level, he stated while adding that the public meeting also urged the lawyers not to fight the case for the accused Ibomcha.
The meeting was reportedly participated by members of various organizations like Momnu Erik Khombi Lup, Kanglei Ima Lup, Apunba Nupi Khunnai Lamjing Meira Lup, WASHAK, KAWA, UMO, UCM and Thoubal District United Women Development Organization.
