Imphal, February 19 2009:
The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has called upon the Tangkhul community to identify and punish in public the murderers of the Kasom Khullen SDO, Dr Thingnam Kishan, his driver Aribam Rajen Sharma and Mandol Yumnam Token in order to prevent some mindless and mad Tangkhul goondas from creating communal clash between the Tangkhul and Meetei communities.
A press release issued by the Chief, Publicity Department, RPF, GM Changjou today strongly condemned the barbaric murder of the SDO and his two subordinate staff by hacking them with a hoe and clubbing them with a rock to death, and described it as the most gruesome and inhuman act.
The RPF will start investigating into the incident of murder and try to punish those whoever found guilty, Changjou announced.
The press release further stated that some goondas among the Tangkhuls have been endlessly murdering innocent people of Meetei and other communities.
Time is overdue for the Tangkhul community to identify these goondas from amongst the Tangkhuls who have been trying to drive a wedge between the communities and give them appropriate punishment according to the Tangkhul customary laws, the press release stated.
It further warned that if a communal riot breaks out between the communities, a number of innocent Tangkhul people, Meetei people and other similar looking people of other communities may suffer heavy casualties.
These few goondas among the Tangkhuls feel that if they can create a communal riot between the Meeteis and the Tangkhuls, they would be able to regain the lost sympathy.
This is a brainless act of mad terrorists, the Chief of Publicity of RPF categorically stated.
The Chief further stated that the Tangkhul, the Meetei and other communities should identify, isolate these mindless goondas and try to punish them.
Or else because of them, the Tangkhul brethren would certainly face sufferings one day.
But if the Tangkhul community want to avoid such situation, they should take the initiative.
All brothers and sisters of Tangkhul community should nip in the bud the omissions committed by these few enemies of the society, who are bent on snapping the centuries-old bonds of love, peace and harmony between the two communities and identify them and punish them with the knowledge of the public.
The Tangkhul community, of which generosity is well-known, should isolate and stop these people who act in a lowly manner and are trying to denigrate the good image of the Tangkhul community, the press release stated.
The RPF also expressed sharing of the sorrow of the aggrieved families of the three slain men.
