All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) is organising a seminar on November 24 and 25 in Chandel district with the theme 'Envisioning Change through Education' to discuss the report of education survey done in the five hill districts in the past three months.
Stating that the students' body has heard the voice of despair and frustration in the midst of the ongoing confrontation of leaders of Manipur comprising the so-called politicians and human rights champions, a statement issued by the assistant secretary of ATSUM, Robert Leivon asserted to give fitting reply to the self-styled public leaders and champions' issues.
It stated that ATSUM has run from pillar to posts in its own capacity to bring an end to the current impasse - especially to open the educational institution that have remained closed since September 9.The sufferings of the parents and the pain of the students, who are denied acquiring formal education, will be marked in the mind and heart of ATSUM.
It also pledged to continue to struggle and works towards making education a free, compulsory and exceptional in the days to come.
Registering strong condemnation on the burning down of educational institutions, the ATSUM statement appealed the involved persons not to continue the line of action of burning of schools.
ATSUM also urged the government to be pro-active in handling the current educational crisis and come out with clear line of action.
"Our stand is that the current academic session and calendar must not be compromised," ATSUM stated while adding that the government must take all measures to conduct all examinations on time.
"The government and the responsible department, board and university must come out with clear dates for the examinations of the current academic year," ATSUM statement demanded.
