Condolences have poured in from different quarters over the demise of veteran journalist and founder-editor of Poknapham Sh Gopal Sharma who passed away in the wee hours of today.
Chief Minister O Ibobi in his condolence message to the bereaved family members as well as the media fraternity today said that the demise of Gopal has dealt a personal blow to him.
The sacrifice and dedication demonstrated by the late man during his long years in journalism is something which can never be replicated, said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also prayed for the peaceful rest of the departed soul.

The Manipur People's Party has also deeply condoled the demise of Sh Gopal Sharma and paid rich tributes to his contribution to the society as a journalist.
In a statement, MPP said that a condolence meeting was held at the party's office, with its president Dr Nimaichand Luwang in the chair.
In the passing away of Sh Gopal Sharma, not only the media fraternity, but the State as a whole has been rendered poorer, said the party.
Joining the chorus of condolence messages, the CPI (M), Manipur State Committee today expressed profound sorrow and anguish over the passing away of Sh Gopal.
His contributions towards society and the State at large will remain forever, it said and added that the CPI (M) shares the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
The CPI, Manipur State Council has also condoled the demise of Sh Gopal and added that the void left by his death will be hard to fill.
The United Committee Manipur, in recognising his contributions to society at large for such a long period of time, held a condolence meeting at its party office at Lamphel today at 11 am, with its president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar in the chair.
A two minute silence was observed to pay respect to the departed soul.
The All Manipur Anti-Drug Association has also deeply condoled the demise of the Editor cum founder of Poknapham.
In a condolence message, AMADA said that the void created by his demise will be hard to fill in the field of journalism.
The Naharol Sahitya Premee Samiti has also deeply condoled the passing away of the veteran journalist, who gave all his best to his profession.
A condolence meeting was held wherein the members observed a two minute silence.
Apart from condoling the demise of Sh Gopal Sharma, many have acknowledged his pioneering works in introducing new ideas in print journalism.
