2 owners, 2 salesmen arrested

The government has begun to take action against the oil pumps which have taken oil from the depot of Indian Oil Corporation, Chingmeirong but sold out the same to blackmarketeers surreptitiously.
As the first of such an action, Imphal West district police along with the district authority today closed down an oil pump located at Canchipur for having secretly sold out diesel, and arrested two owners of the pump and two salesmen.
The said oil pump is Dijendra Petroleum Station and the two proprietors of the pump arrested by police have been identified as Sanasam Tomba (42), a resident of Thongju Boroi Makhong and Khadombam Mocha Meetei (31), a resident of Kiyamgei Maning Leikai.
The other two salesmen who have been arrested are Huiningsumbam Sushil (32) of Thongju Part-II and RK Jiten (45) of Khurai Soibam Leikai.
Singjamei Police Station has filed an FIR under IPC Section 420 and 120 B against the four individuals.
Reports received from police said that the station received 12 KL of diesel from the oil depot at Chingmeirong on November 4 for the purpose of distribution to public.
After loading the fuel at the pump, distribution started around 7 am yesterday under the supervision of police and continued till 4 pm.
As it was getting late, the distribution was stopped and police along with the employees of the pump checked how much diesel had been left in the stock and found that 4,800 litres were remaining.
Paper was signed between the police and the pump with the agreement that the remaining quantity would be issued next day together.
The report further said that a team of policemen went to the pump this morning around 7 am and on checking, found the stock to be only 700 litres.
After the matter was reported to higher police officers, officials from DSO Imphal West district and district administration came to the spot and after verifying the facts, closed down Dijendra Petroleum Station.
The two proprietors along with two salesmen were thus arrested by the police, the report said.
