Irabanta abduction case: 18-hr strike called on August 30

Imphal, August 25 2012:
The JAC formed against the abduction of Irungbam Irabanta has called an 18-hour general strike in Manipur from midnight of August 29 to 5 am of August 30 in protest against the indifferent attitude of the State Government over the issue of abduction of Irabanta allegedly by NSCN-IM since May 27 last.
This was declared at a press conference jointly convened by the JAC, AMUCO, HERICOUN, UPF, IPSA and NIPCO at Manipur Press Club here today.
I Ichal, Convener of JAC, explained that the decision of calling 18-hour general strike in Manipur with effect from midnight of August 29 till 5 am of August 30 has been taken in protest against the alleged indifferent attitude of the state Govt over the issue.
However, there will be relaxation with regard to services of media, Fire Services and religious functions.
