Imphal, June 23 2009:
Troops of 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IG AR (South) have apprended one NNWPSG cadre during an operation launched at Lower Phaibung around 2 am today.
The arrested cadre has been identified as one Heney.
One pistol with two magazines having seven rounds were recovered from him, a press release issued PRO, HQ IG AR (South) informed.
In another incident, troops of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) intercepted consignment of red sander wood weighing approximately 20 tons from two Tata trucks, Regd No.MN 01W-4709, RJ 141G-2356 and Tata Indica Regd No, MN 01-7301 on June 22 at permanent vehicle check post,Bongyang.
Kahnaiya Lal Jaswal, son of BL Jaswal, residing in Imphal claimed the consignment belonged to him.
The vehicles along with 10 transporters have been handed over to Forest department, Pallel on the morning of that day itself.
In yet another operation, troops of 43 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector HQ IGAR (South) had stopped a Tata Sumo, Regd No.MN 04 A 1475 plying from Imphal to Moreh, around 11:50 am today resulting into recovery of 580 nos of Pangolin shells and Indian currency Rs.48,000/- from a lady.
The lady was identified as Kim (45), wife of Late Tinengil of Lamka, Churachandpur.
Individual alongwith recovered items have been handed over to Forest department, Pallel.
