Manipuri film festival in Delhi

Imphal, March 07 2011:
The Manipur Film Development Corporation Ltd (MFDC) will be organizing the 1st Manipuri Film Festival, 2011 at the Siri Fort Auditorium -2, Jwaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi from March 9 to 13 .
In a press release, MFDC stated that 10 Manipuri feature films and 30 non feature films which won international recognitions, National and State awards including films of Kuki and Naga communities will be screened during the festival.
MP Lok Sabha, Th Meina, Renowned Film Maker Padmashree Aribam Shyam Sharma and Resident Commissioner, Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi Rakesh Ranjan will graced the inaugural function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The festival is being organised with an aim to encourage young film makers of the state with the awareness of the high status of Manipuri films' movement in the mainstream of world cinema.
Deliberation will also be hold in an academic session in national level about the role played by the Manipuri films in disseminating cultural, social and aesthetic appeals of Manipuri society.
A film stall of Film Forum Manipur will also be opened throughout the stint of the festival, it stated.
