The Director General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General K S Yadava today assured that Assam Rifles will be opening a well furnished school at Mantripukhri for educating the wards of those working in the force, ex-servicemen and the locals as well.
DG Yadava conveyed this while interacting with the media persons on the sidelight of attending an Ex-servicemen rally for ex-Assam Rifles personnel hailing from Manipur under the aegis of 28 Assam Rifles at 9 sector headquarters at Keithelmanbi near Imphal.
"The IG, AR (south) has now been permanently established in Manipur and soon they will be a opening a school which will be much bigger than what the battalions are running that will help their children as well as some of the local boys" General Yadava responding to a question said.
When asked about objective of organizing such rally for the ex-service men, the Assam Rifles Chief said, it is our duty to ensure special treatment to the ex-servicemen by providing such forum for them to highlight their grievances so that the facilities which were entitled to them could be addressed in time.
The DG also assured that separate recruitment rally for the wards of the ex-servicemen would be conducted regularly in Assam Rifles.
"we've conducted a rally last year and we're also planning another this year.We will conduct the rally for the wards of ex-servicemen every year" he promised.
Reacting to a question on Centre;s directive if any in connection with the security arrangement for the forthcoming 15th Lok Sabha poll in Manipur, Director General made it clear that they would do continue their routine as it is saying," Assam Rifles is presently engaged in Counter Insurgency operations work,that is what we'll do this time too".
But the DG couldn't give assurance on the demand of availing rest house of the ex-servicemen at Dimapur,Guwahati and Delhi.
Instead he said,we don't have rest house exclusively for ex-servicemen.
But all ex-servicemen are also entitled to stay in transit camps as well,he added.
Rungthang Anal, President of Assam Rifles Ex-serviceman's Association Imphal which have more than 600 members also submitted a five point charter of demands to the visiting DG Assam Rifles during the occasion.Earlier the visiting DG along with his wife in presence of IG,Assam Rifles Major General A K Choudhury,Commanders of 9,10 and 26 sectors also inaugurated a exhibition stalls besides distributing cash awards and others to 29 widows of ex-assam rifles personnel from Manipur.
