Imphal, August 10 2009:
Even though the State administration managed to foil its attempt to stage a mass rally and submit a memorandum on the July 23 incident to the Governor today, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has decided to organise yet another rally and submit the memorandum to the Governor at 11 am tomorrow.
In a statement, the Apunba Lup said necessary preparations have been made and once again appealed to the people to take out protest rallies from their respective areas and join in submitting the memorandum to the Governor at 11 am tomorrow.
Denouncing the reign of the Congress led SPF Government under the leadership of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh since 2002, the statement dubbed the SPF Government of earning the dubious distinction of recording the highest number of killing innocent people in the entire political history of Manipur.
The Apunba Lup has also called upon the people for support in uprooting the Government.
Questioning the rationale of detaining the arrested protestors under NSA, the Apunba Lup has strongly decried the action of the police commandos and other security forces on the protestors, which has maimed many, including Naorem Prakash of Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai.
The Apunba Lup has been demanding resignation of the Chief Minister over the July 23 incident, punishment of the guilty police commandos and their higher officers who tried to suppress the truth and unconditional release of the arrested protestors.
